Booster roles, achievement roles, and somewhere for feathers to go

The biggest run of changes since the bot learned to run tournaments. Two new ways to earn a role, two new things to do with people rather than with the bot, and three new places to spend feathers, because the one thing the economy did not have was a way OUT.

Roles you make, and roles you earn

/boosterrole

Boost the server and you get a role of your own. Set its name, its colour, a second colour for a gradient, and an icon. Mods pick an anchor so every booster role sits in the same place, which is also what decides whose colour shows. Roles made by hand before this can be adopted with /boosterrole link, and behave exactly as if the bot had made them. The role goes when the boost does.

Achievement roles

The bot reads your AQW badges and your inventory off your character page and works out what you have earned. An achievement is a fact about the PLAYER, so it is earned once and then granted in every server we share, including ones you join later. Each server maps the achievements it wants to its own roles. Nothing is ever taken back for hiding an item.

Things you do with other people

/marry

Propose, accept, decline, divorce. It takes two: a proposal on its own marries nobody, and a decline is answered privately. One spouse at a time, and either of you can end it alone.

/rep

Give somebody a reputation point, once a day. It shows on the rank card.

/board weekly

The one leaderboard somebody who joined last month can actually win. It counts what you earned this week, net of what you lost, and it resets every Sunday at midnight Eastern. Handing feathers over with /give does not count, and neither does bank interest, so it measures playing rather than having.

Somewhere for feathers to go

Every gamble was played against the bot, which means a win created feathers out of nothing. Nothing took them back out at any real scale. These three do, and two of them are the first sinks that set their own price.

/auction

Staff list a lot, everybody bids with buttons, and the winning bid is BURNED rather than paid to anyone. Bids are held while you are winning and returned the moment somebody outbids you. A bid in the last two minutes pushes the close back, so it ends when nobody has bid for two minutes rather than going to whoever has the fastest connection. Each bid has to beat the last by 5 percent.

/treasury

A pot your server pays into, spent on something everybody feels: Double XP, or a Spawn Festival where wild Pokemon appear far more often. Mods fund it by the hour, up to 12. Donating is public, because being seen to have paid for tonight is most of the point. Nothing ever pays back out of the pot, to anybody.

/duel

Challenge somebody, both stake the same, highest d100 takes the pot. No upper limit, a 1 million minimum, and the house destroys 3 percent. It is player against player on purpose: you cannot choose to lose, so nobody can use it to move feathers to a friend, and the supply falls every time it is played. Duels count toward the weekly board.

Two things that were printing money

Both of these only bite at the top, and that is the whole design. If you are not sitting on eight figures, nothing about your day changes.

Bank interest is capped

2.5 percent a day compounds to roughly 8,200 times a year. A hundred million banked was earning about 19 million a week for doing nothing, which is more than every sink in the bot could take back out put together. Interest is now paid on the first 10 million of a balance. Below that, nothing changes at all. The rest of your money is still there, and the Interest Booster still doubles the rate.

The stock market takes a cut of profit

Buying and selling waifu shares creates feathers exactly equal to what traders make, so winning is what mints. 40 percent of a REALISED GAIN now goes nowhere. A losing or break-even sale is never charged, the cut can never turn a winning trade into a losing one, and the receipt names it. Prices and the way the market moves are completely untouched.

Fixed

Music searches that answered "no results"

A search that failed because the music node hiccuped was reported as your search term being wrong. It retries once now, and a failure says it failed.

r!highfive and three other reactions

Four interaction commands asked the GIF service for a name it does not serve, so they posted with no picture and looked broken. They fall back to another reaction from the same category now, and the log names any that need renaming.

/char emote

One option you type into, backed by the whole emote catalog, instead of a short fixed list.

Custom !commands

A link to a page rather than to an image is resolved when the command is added, where somebody is still there to fix it, instead of silently never embedding. Video wins over image, so an animated post no longer embeds as its still poster frame.

The AQW chat relay

A guild tag no longer disappears when the lookup behind it times out, and a Discord post that fails is retried once instead of dropping that line of in-game chat for good.

On the website

Achievement authoring

Servers can write their own achievements at ravensguild.app/servers, and share one so other servers can adopt it. Booster roles can be linked to members from the same place.

Server settings tell the truth about defaults

The settings panel only knew about settings somebody had changed, so a feature running on the bot’s default read as "not set". Mod roles, the mod log, the ambient replies and level-ups were all being reported as off while they were on.

Status board

Discord’s own platform status sits beside our probe of it, so "is it them or us" is answerable from one page.

Faster

Responses are compressed, art is served as WebP where it used to be multi-megabyte PNGs, and the pages that ask other services for things cache the answers.
